PIECES OF ME FAMILY GROUP

Being a mother of a child on the autism Spectrum I know the high's and lows of this journey. I know what it feels like to not want to go out or interact with other adults, families, friends & children but I also know how helpful and fun being apart of a group can be for you, your children, friends and family. I rarely see groups for families with Autistic children in the Hamden and Greater New Haven area so I started this group to get family and friends of children with Autism that live in the Hamden/New Haven/ West Haven/Milford & etc areas to meetup and interact. I definitely want to encourage young parents to come out. My husband and I were in our early twenties when our son was diagnosed so we can relate and I am sure many others that will join the group can relate as well. By no way am I dismissing the older parents, friends & families ALL are welcome and all are wanted and needed !! I want to come together to meetup, do activities, support, build healthy long-lasting relationships and show each other that we are not alone. We will have meetups for specific ages of children, all ages and have some meetups for only the parents as well. I believe doing this will be encouraging for the children and our families. The dream for this group is that it strengthens the family bond, erase the shame, increase the hope and affect our homes, community and world in a positive way.
